NIAS does not have its own lending library but provides a fast and efficient lending request service. Book requests are made from the desktop via the NIAS Library Request System. The Library staff order books and articles via the national database PiCarta and borrow from the University Library of Amsterdam (UBA) and from other libraries in the Netherlands via Interlibrary (ILL) loan. Books and articles are usually delivered within 1-5 days and Fellows pick up their requested books from the library. The NIAS Library collection is a testimony to all the work that has been done at NIAS, since its establishment in 1970. There is a small reference section and the collection also includes books submitted by Fellows as part of their fellowship application as well as books of interest donated to the Library by former fellows.
